noise-induced hearing loss?

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a hearing impairment resulting from loud noise exposure. The noise can be from a single event, such as an explosion, or long-term exposure to loud noise, using tools such as welding, grinding, jackhammers, hilti guns, or working on machines / furnaces in a foundry/construction site/factory.

The symptoms of NIHL can vary depending on the severity of the hearing loss. Mild NIHL may cause difficulty hearing soft sounds or high-pitched sounds. Moderate NIHL may cause trouble understanding speech, even in quiet environments. Severe NIHL may lead to complete deafness in one or both ears.
